Artist Spotlight: Zero, Tattoo Artist

In our last Artist Spotlight of the year we’re featuring Zero, a tattooer from Orange County, California with amazingly unqiue art.

Zero is a formally trained fine artist and illustrator that began tattooing at Vatican Studios when he met his tattoing mentors. It’s very aparent in Zero’s work that he takes is formal training into his tattoos too. Let’s take a look at some of Zero’s work;

My favorite piece featured above is the sketch of Michone from The Walking Dead because of the depth and detail in just a black and grey piece. My favorite tattoo is the lady with the hourglass though because it’s so simple yet complex at the same time.

I asked Zero how he got into art and tattooing and this is what he told me;

Drawing is a natural response. [I’ve been] drawing since I was 4 years old. It’s a part of all my earliest memories. Tattoos sparked my interest when I was a teenager. Back then there weren’t a lot of black tattoo artists. Apprenticeships and mentorships from a master were and still are hard to come by. My career began in Southern California when I met Alexis Vaatete and Franco Vescovi. They took me under their wings and blessed me with tattoo knowledge.Zero
