Like most website operators, ThinkDope collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. ThinkDope purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how ThinkDope visitors use its website. From time to time, ThinkDope may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of its website.
ThinkDope also collects potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for logged in users and for users leaving comments on ThinkDope.com blogs/sites. ThinkDope only discloses logged in user and commenter IP addresses under the same circumstances that it uses and discloses personally-identifying information as described below, except that commenter IP addresses and email addresses are visible and disclosed to the administrators of the blog/site where the comment was left.
Gathering of Personally-Identifying Information
Certain visitors to ThinkDope websites choose to interact with ThinkDope in ways that require ThinkDope to gather personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information that ThinkDope gathers depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, we ask visitors who submit art to ThinkDope.com to provide their name and email address. In each case, ThinkDope collects such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfill the purpose of the visitor’s interaction with ThinkDope. ThinkDope does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below. And visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain website-related activities.
ThinkDope may collect statistics about the behavior of visitors to its websites. ThinkDope may display this information publicly or provide it to others. However, ThinkDope does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below.

Our focus at ThinkDope is helping others create art! To do that we provide educational and inspirational content completely free to our visitors. The platform we’ve built and content we provide takes a lot of time and money to create and maintain. In order to provide our platform and content for free we needed to find sources of income. However, we have made a clear decision to not riddle our website with banner advertising because it’s ugly, obtrusive, and distracting to visitors.
The solution we found was to use affiliate links when linking to products/services we recommend and sponsored posts featuring our own projects, as well as others who pay to be sponsored. You can learn more about both types of advertising we do on ThinkDope below;
Affiliate links are links to products/services that give us a small commission for referring you to them. An affiliate link will never cost you extra nor will they affect your product/service in any way, shape, or form. In rare cases, when noted, you may actually save money by going through our link. Affiliate links are placed where ever possible and are genuine recommendations, never falsely put just to make money. The commission we do earn is used to support the costs of ThinkDope as we have hosting and other miscellaneous costs to provide our content for free. Some of our affiliate partners include Amazon, iTunes (through Performance Horizon Group), Moo, SocialStack, MightyDeals, Envato Marketplaces, and MediaTemple.
ThinkDope.com is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to amazon.com, endless.com, MYHABIT.com, SmallParts.com, or AmazonWireless.com. Please note that prices may fluctuate, we will do our best to make sure the price of an item linked to is accurate at the time of posting, but please always confirm before checking out.
iTunes Store / Performance Horizon Group Affiliation
ThinkDope.com is a participant in the iTunes Store Affiliate Program (affiliation through Performance Horizon Group), an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to music, audio books, movies, ebooks, and iOS applications in the iTunes Music, iBook, and iTunes App Stores. Please note that prices may fluctuate, we will do our best to make sure the price of an item linked to is accurate at the time of posting, but please always confirm before checking out.
Sponsored posts are articles primarily promoting the businesses and projects of the ThinkDope Council. We also sometimes allow approved advertisers to pay a fee per sponsored post. Posting our own endeavors won’t give us money directly, but if you like what our businesses/projects can offer you, it would help us to support ourselves while we create content for you! You can contact us if you’re interested in having your business or product in a sponsored post.
Our promise is that we will never advertise a product or service we don’t genuinely support or agree with. They will always be products/services we use, have used, or are widely praised. If an affiliate link does not exist for a product or service we’re recommending in an article, we’ll still include it with a regular link because it’s what we actually recommend. If you ever find an affiliate link or sponsored post to be deceiving or inappropriate please let us know.
In short, we will never sponsor or affiliate link to a product/service we believe is subpar, regardless of the money.
